The second week of the month is always my busiest, that is when every meeting I have is. Including, Murray Education Foundation, Community Council, Hillcrest, PTA, Parkside PTA, Learning for Life, Murray School Board, Parkside PTA, Cub Scout and Primary! It kinda makes me tired naming them all, except that it is 2am and I can't sleep.
But the good part is it was the last meeting of the school year for most of them, yipee! And it was the last PTA meeting I was in charge of, YIPEE!!! Yes, I did curtsy at the end of the meeting.
We also had two major events at Parkside this week. Author's Fair and the Art Walk have become an amazing tradition. Each student writes and illustrates their own book, they put so much work into them and they turn out wonderful. And our teachers are also awesome because it takes a lot of work from them. We also hang art from each student. And this year Mrs. Anderson's 2nd grade performed their opera that they had wrote.

Jenn Wells, is the one who came up with the idea for the Author's Fair 3 years ago, and she does such a great job. I know it is hard to believe but there is another picture of me, with her at the fair. Unfortunately, I don't have more pictures because I had to be off to board meeting.
Big congratulations to our Special Education teacher Matt Nelson who that night was awarded District Teacher of the Year, what a fabulous teacher and he calls Parkside home.
The second big event was my end of year ROAD TO SUCCESS assembly. The job of entertaining 550 kids for an hour is at times a little overwhelming, but as usual they were terrific and it turned out great. This year my theme was "Are You Smarter Than Your Teacher?" and I had a great power point that looked just like the real show. I had 3 kids and one teacher come up for each question, some were school questions and others pop culture, in and attempt to stump the teachers. We had Chief there and he answered some of the questions to, and we had a lot of laughs. I gave away Parkside t-shirts, Chief stuff animals, frisbies and ice skating passes. And the teachers won gift certificates for salon services and donuts, thanks Randi and CoeLen. Then we gave away the bikes! It's always cool to see how excited the kids are to win, but even better is that the 6th grader who won already had a bike and so she gave it to someone else. Funny story though, that girl had one too, so then we had to find a third girl to give it. Proof that there are a lot of good kids out there. After I got to reward the whole school with donuts, which the kids LOVE! So that closes the book on another successful year of reading... oh ya, our total was over 1.6 million minutes!
Sounds like you did a wonderful job. There are so many great things going on inside and outside Parkside because of women like you. Tell Matt congrats on Teacher of the Year. That is great. Hope everything else is going well. Have a great summer.
