The End...

Last night was last time to drop off shoes for Cleats for Feet.  Sam has washed and cleaned and bleached (only one shirt was ruined in the process) and laced and sorted and organized shoes for 4 weeks.  As a family on Sunday morning we sorted all the shoes from big to little and put shoes in them and decided it was time for pictures...

And then we had more dropped off!  And we were able to get a few more new pairs of shoes and more socks.

And then he was finally done! Well he has to deliver them, take the mismatched ones to be recycled, do the paper work and go through his Eagle Court.  But this part is done!  Yea!  It's a good thing we have a screened in porch to keep them in, but even that room is full!

That bring his grand total to...
165 shoes/cleats complete with socks and laces!
Thanks to everyone who made a donation!
There will a lot of kids with
new shoes on their feet!

Legacy Theater...

We took the girls to the movie about the Joseph Smith's life and the Restoration at the Legacy Theater in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  The movie was so good and so beautiful, we all cried!  And then it was off to free pie night at Village Inn... boy do these girls like pie night.

Midway Through...

About midway throught Sam's project he had about 110 shoes, that seemed like a lot but the next few weeks shoes and socks kept trickling in.  Sam still checks the box several times a day!  He has worked on washing and lacing shoes every night, he has been so on top of things.

General Conference was a great time to lace and clean shoes. The project has been a family affair, but Sam has had the most help from his sister.

The Little Mermaid...

This years Children's Ballet Theater spring show was The Little Mermaid.  It was Elisabeth's favorite show yet, but it is also supposed to be the most difficult show they put on.  It was beautiful as usual, when I took the Young Women they were so surprised because it was like going to the ballet not a typical dance performance.  She performed as seaweed for ballet, sounds awful but they loved their dance right from the start and on two of the nights she was a vendor girl on the docks for character.  Thankfully she took some pictures backstage to share the fun.

Flowers from her Daddy!

I LOVE this picture, I think I like it best in black and white.

The Young Women were wonderful to come support Elisabeth!

I Like Your Hat...

Elisabeth had a great time trying on these Easter hats at Dillards, they had orginally been over $100 so even at super sale price they weren't quite the right price for this bargain hunting girl.

San Diego, or is it San Francisco?

Our weekend was spent at National School Board convention. Elisabeth sent me this text, the first afternoon: "Did you get to San Francisco okay?" I responded: "no, but we got to San Diego. We had a great time playing scum and eating and eating some more. We enjoyed some good workshops, I even dragged Jeremiah all most of the time. There are only a couple pictures taken, including one of the fun walking shoes we all bought at Skeetchers. Yup, we went back to Skeetchers 5 or 6 times, some of the other ladies bought 4 and 5 pair! Me, just one. Our trip ended o pen a sad a note with news of three bombings in Boston, apparently work of a terrorist, so sad.

The pictures are of Jeremiah in front of Hooters, that ones for Sam
Cute shoes, this reminds me of Elisabeth and her friends take.
The whole gang at dinner.
9-11 Flag was hanging that day at ground zero and now has traveled the country being mended. The conference was the last stop before it will go on permanent display in Washington.

One Week In...

Sam's Eagle Project is going well, he has kept up his entuasiasm, but we are getting a little tired of shoes.  So far he has collected 80+ shoes! He has two more weeks to go, he still needs donations including kids shoes, shoes laces and new socks.

Elisabeth did a little advertising for her brother.

Sam got together with the vice principal, Mr. Corser, at his school and made a plan to get more shoes.  Mr. Corser contacted the high school coaches, they all have cleats/shoes that get left behind in locker rooms, and they all donated.  The ones we have so far are stinky and dirty, most cleaned up nicely, but we do have 16 with not matches.

My parents neighbors, the Wynn's, have been a huge help.  They have sent three big bags including all these almost new soccer cleats.

Elisabeth has been super helpful lacing and unlacing.

Sam checks his box everytime he gets home, he is so bummed when it is empty.  But when he has something dropped off he is like a kid on Christmas!
