The 6th graders are leading the school in Relay Recess, each week they have a theme on Friday and if you donate (the whole school participates) you can be involved. This week was crazy hair day, the kid earned almost $400 for cancer research. Elisabeth is looking for sponsors for the BIG DEALS, LITTLE WHEELS race, so if you are interested in donating a dollar or two let her know. Yes, there is a "red solo cup" underneath her hair, she loved it!

Crazy Hair Day...

Service Project...
The Stake Young Womens president challenged the girls to each do a service project for one of their Value Projects this year. When Elisabeth saw this idea she knew she wanted to sew one for herself and then decided to do them for the other Beehives in our ward and that she knows. It keeps all their books together, apparently they are lost often. We spent ALL day President's Day working on them, they turned out darling.
Finally snow...
Last Sunday it finally snowed enough for sledding, just barely, the kids couldn't stand it and had to go right after church. Koda is getting to old or the kids are getting to big, so instead of pulling the sleigh he walked with us and then got his picture with Elisabeth. (Sam was in the car being mad.)
Later Joe and Randi brought over their new baby, Joe calls her "Rebel" and Randi calls her "Bell." The kids loved playing with her, but now we are not getting anymore pets!
Balloons, Valentine's Day, Balloons, 6th Grade Lip Sync and more Balloons!
The Johnson's Valentine's 2012 was all about balloons! Not really but it felt like it! I was in charge of the fundraiser at Hillcrest Junior this year and it went fantastic! The kids bought over 1500 balloons! I had a great group of moms and student body officers who helped fill, fill and fill and deliver.

Thankfully, I got a chance to run to the elementary to see the 6th grade lipsync, a Parkside tradition. The kiddos (Alix, Jessica, Natalie, Hayden and Ashton) in Elisabeth's group had been practicing once a week at our house until I was over it, but all the practicing paid off. They did a song called "Tarzan & Jane," and they did some pretty funny spoof on it, like the boys carrying each other away instead of the girls. The girls danced darling and everyone seemed to enjoy the performance, especially Hayden making kissy faces at the girls!

With all the craziness of the ward party and fundraiser my kids Valentine's came up a little short, but I did send Sam balloons at school and brought some home for Lizzie. I also found a book at the school library that they had been on the waiting list forever for. The balloons kept on giving when Truscott was here, his FAVORITE words are "up" and "balloon" and so he dragged those things around all day.
Not sure how I feel about Elisabeth getting Valentine's from boys, but it is from her good friend Hayden, who only decides to have a crush on her a couple times a year.

The Sock Hop!

Our new calling is to organize the ward activities, not to be confused with the ward activities committee. Basically we are the go between for the ward council and those we assign different activities. So since the first activity, Ward Adult Social, was sorta half baked when we got it we mostly took it on ourselves, but we did have some great help in the end. We had a yummy dinner with delicious smoked turkey, salad and potatoes. We finished it off with root beer floats to go with our sock hop theme. One of our stake presidents, and dad to our kids good friends the Harsh boys, is a drummer in a band and they were our entertainment. They do all sorts of oldies from the 50's and 60's and a little bit of the 70's, that's where we got the sock hop theme. The band was so great, people danced way more then I thought they would. We also had Angela organize games/activities including a bubble blowing contest, hulla hoop contest and the limbo. Everyone had a great time! I wish I had better pictures and pictures of my cute coke bottle center piece and decorations, but alas I only had my cell phone and I was pretty busy being in charge.

Curls...
So for my birthday Elisabeth and I both got perms, her has been darling from the start, and now that mine has mellowed and has been colored I might post pictures. For sure I will post Elisabeth's soon, or you can look close at the gymnastics pictures.
Guess who's turning 1?
Red Rocks...

It's that time a year again, where Elisabeth and spend many of our Friday nights with the Red Rocks. After growing up going to meets it's fun having Elisabeth be excited to go. Last weeks meet, versus BYU, was Short People Appreciation Night. They have had this for a few years now, celebrating how tiny the gymnasts are. If you are under 5 foot you get in free, and even though we have season tickets Elisabeth wanted to try. We were also attacked by the mascot SWOOP who was drawing mustaches on people, I think he was supposed to be drawing U's. My cousin Bud and his cute family were there that night so Elisabeth shared a seat with her buddy Eli so that he could sit by us. The Utes moved up to #1 in the nation this week, it is based on point total, but they face a powerhouse in #4 ranked Georgia tomorrow night.
