Blue & Gold

Last night was Sam's last Blue & Gold banquet in Cub Scouts. They did a nice job, nothing fancy, but the boys had a good time and that's all that matters. Sam loves Scouts, especially since we have it on a stake level so he's with all his buddies. His Webelos leader is a little over the top ("Scout Nazi") but he only has 2 more months, and then it's on to 11 year old Scouts!

The Utes Visit Parkside...

Brad Clifford, Matt Martinez, ME!, Stevensen Sylvester, and Greg Bird.
(Zane had to leave early for a study group!)

To reward the kids for reading so much I arranged a special visit to Parkside. And after months of planning today was the day that the Sugar Bowl winnin' Utes visited our school! What a great bunch of guys, they were so great with the kids and made me even more of a fan (if that was possible.) The guys helped pass out our reading rewards, gave high fives to all the Students of the months, then they read them a story and had pictures with the top reading classes for January. The kids loved it, what an exciting thing for a school that most of the kids will never go to a university level game.
Ok you say, but how did I make this happen? Through the power of facebook! I have been talking to Zane Beadles, offensive lineman, and my former neighbor. He got the guys together and totally hooked me up!
I can't say thanks enough, they totally made the kids day!

Thank You Representative Wheatley

I already heard back from Representative Wheatley, and he will not be supporting SB 199! Now that's America at its best!

Speak Up People!

I try to make my blog very positive, and so far I haven't got into my political views much, but there is a time for everything. I am asking all the fair citizens of Utah who read this, to think it through and contact your local representatives!

Please, ask them to say no to...
SB199 Equal Recognition of School Parent Groups by Senator Curtis Bramble

The majority of this bill is very positive, giving all parent groups equal access to our schools. I don't know about your school, but at ours, we say come one come all! We need all the support we can get. The problem with the bill is in its final sentences when it states that schools will not be able to associate with due based parent groups.

This means the PTA.

PTA dues are such a small part of the vital work that PTA does in schools, please don't let this bill ruin so many good programs! PTA supports our over worked teachers and provides much needed technology, books, funding and fun to all our schools! Please contact your representatives and tell them to consider this bill closely!

It's easy to contact them... go to http://www.scottriding.com/utahlegislators/index.htm
If your are in my area they are Representative Wheatley... markwheatley@utah.gov
and Senator Davis.... gdavis@utahsenate.org

And while you there, tell him how you feel about the 15% budget cut our schools are going to have next year! Our kids need us to speak out for them! (Isn't this the rainy day, that the rainy day fund is for?)

Salt Lake Temple...

My sister just sent me this really cool email of pictures of the Salt Lake Temple during the inversion, they are dated January 30, 2009.

Talk about standing as a beacon for all to see!

Biggest Loser...

This is a tribute to our total obsession to this show!

This is Jillian, she is one of the shows trainers, I have found myself more and more obsessed with her. I say at least half a dozen times each episode "look at her arms, they are so hot!" She's all of 4 foot nothin' and so buff, and at sometime in the last month she has become my idol!

This is Bob, he is the other trainer, love him too, even with his Mother Mary tattoo. He is so zen, until he loses it! When he lost it with the gray team earlier this season it was so great!

This is the blue team, my Tongan Mormon boys, they are so fun to watch, they play hard, have fun and are just good guys. Here's last nights weigh in quote:
"... Ten more pounds and I'll be Sean Claude Van DAMN I look good!"
They are my favorites.
(Ok, I don't know the Mormon thing for sure, but they did have pictures in their home of the temple, so that leads me to believe.)

But I love the brown team too, I love how much heart the dad has even though his bad knees hold him back physically and I love how the son works so hard to make up for his dad, but he also so proud of his dad.

Here's the thing though, this season everybody has been so lovey dovey! They have now knocked off all but one weak player, they usually go for the strongest first. So my question is when and who is going to start game play? Somebody has got to go for blood soon! Come on as much as you hated Vicki last year, she made for good television! I think it will be Tara from the Green Team, she was losing it last night, and I don't mean weight.

There you have, now get off the computer and go work out!

As A Side Note: I am also obsessed with Jillian's hair! And I have made a deal with my husband that if I grow my hair out until my 35th birthday, that's 2 years people! He will take the family to the Atlantis resort! So my goal is to have a Jillian body and hair by then!

Cute Picture...

It is 2 months later, but I thought that this picture of Elisabeth was so cute I had to post it.
It's from her Molly Mouse performance at Christmas time.

Oh My Valentine's

We just finished up the kids "homemade" Valentine's. Elisabeth made a girly box, you know the more sticker the better, out of "foamies" and matching valentine's. Sam's is a "keg of love," or "Sam's Original Love Potion!" I think it turned out really cool. He also made his own valentine's on comic's life.

Hearts of Hair...

Here are my latest creations made just for Valentine's.
I can't really take credit, because I get the ideas from "hair blogs,"
but we usually add our own twist.

I had another one with the top of her hair in a heart, and the rest down on Super Bowl Sunday, but apparently I forgot to take a picture!

On to Seattle...

Jordan left to Seattle today! He got to talk to his family this morning before he left. We got a letter from him over the weekend, he is doing great, he loves it.

As the ugly days of winter drag on, my aunt Becky each year decides that it is time for a get together. With 21 great granddaughters (only 4 are missing),many with February birthdays, a Pink Princess Party makes the perfect excuse to get together. The afternoon included pink princess dresses, princess musical chairs, make your own candy necklace, girly food and much more. We did have a few prince's there too, Eric, Eli and Greer played the part of Prince Charming.

Quotes...

Yesterday I heard two quotes that I thought were cute/funny...

For Valentine's..
"He Loves Me...
He Loves Me Not...
It Doesn't Matter...
I'm All He's Got!"

From The Biggest Loser.... Sione... Big Tongan Mormon Guy (who's team we're cheering for!)

"I always said I didn't have time to work out, but I managed to fit 3 hours of TV in each day!"

Weekend Fun!

Joe & Randi Night - After being unsuccessful in our plans to go to a murder mystery, we ended just hanging out and getting pizza. We love our 2 big kids, and always have a great time, I laughed so hard my sides ached after they left! Elisabeth took pictures...

We spent the Super Bowl at Miah's boss Sam's house! Thanks to the Jarvie's for the invite we had a great time. Bryan and his wife and baby, and Tyler and his wife were there. It was fun meeting the wives of the men my husband spends most of his time with! Sam made a delicious prime rib, and there was lots of yummy food. Best of all our kids and Sam's boys had the best time playing! They were all wipped out afterwards! We were loud and wearing our Packers colors, in hopes someday our team will return to the big game, but for today Miah was cheering for the Steelers and I was cheering for the Cardinal. For the record I picked the Cards to be in the Superbowl at the beginning of the playoffs, and my husband laughed at me! I do love an underdog, sadly they didn't live up to my prediction of Cards by 10!
