22 in Vegas...

We had a great time with the fam in Vegas, the kids loved having their cousins right across the hall and next door, they just bounced from room to room. With no big brothers and/or sisters the "littles" spent a lot of time in our room. We had a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner at the Season's Buffer at the Silverton Lodge, followed by Santa and shopping at the HUGE Bass Pro Shop. We hit a lot of sights and shopping, even swimming, unfortunately the tournaments weren't a big success. It's been a few years since we all went somewhere together, I think probably camping in Torey, and sadly it probably will be the last before all the kids head off on missions, married life and all sorts of grown up stuff. I'm grateful we were all together for a little while though.

Quotes:

Elisabeth: I'm hungry.
Chad: I'm Chad, pleased to meet you.

Sam: Chad should be a stand up comedian.

My nephew Stockton knows how to really ham it up for pictures, he makes up funny poses and scenes, so now my kids think it's hysterical to do it to. It does make for fun pictures.

A Note of Gratitude...

Before we take off for Vegas, I have been reading what everyone is grateful for on their blogs, I didn't want to seem ungrateful so here are mine:
My Husband
He's my best friend and there is nothing that makes me happier than laughing with him.
He works so hard for us. And is a great dad.
My Kids
Sam & Elisabeth are awesome kids. The know right from wrong, except for teasing each other, and are good examples to everyone around them.
My Parents
They do so much for us, I can NEVER thank them enough. They are fabulous grandparents too.
My-in-laws
They to do a lot for us also, including good food on Sundays, they too are fabulous grandparents.
Brothers/Sisters/Nieces/Nephews
Love you all! And we're proud of you all
A Job
Even though the car biz sucks, at least we still have a job
Our Health
We are all strong and healthy.
Fred and Koda
I'm thankful for my pets that make me smile each day.
The Gospel
I'm grateful to have the church in my life and all that it brings with it.

Vegas Baby...

Tomorrow we're off for Turkey Day in Vegas. My niece and nephew are in tournament's there so the whole dang family is going. That leaves me with my blog, facebook and email for 3 days! I don't think my husband thinks I can survive!

About the Packers getting spanked last night?..... I really have nothing to say, but, that sucks!
At least Utah won!

Decorating... Check

On our long list of pre-vacation, pre-Christmas duties WAS decorating! It's all done! I counted up the hours to be 11, not bad considering we do every room! That means 6 trees (ranging in size from 3-7 1/2 feet, the nine foot one doesen't fit in this house!), 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, 2 family rooms and one office are all decked out! Oh yea, and add a couple hours for putting lights up! That means the house is clean and festive and I can sit back and watch the game tomorrow!

Sam's New Class... Part 3

Sam said his first day in the new class was "brilliant" (we've been reading Harry Potter) he had a great day and said it was much more quiet! Yeah Sam!

Are you RED or are you BLUE!

The way I see it you are either RED or you are BLUE!
There is no fence sitting during rivalry week!
You have to pick a side!
Our house eats, sleeps and bleeds RED.
What about you???

New Church Callings...

I now can had a new calling to my long list of church primary callings.
Nursery
Sunbeam teacher
8 year old teacher
Den Leader
Cub Scout Committee Chair
Primary Chorister
Activity Days
Secretary

and now

2nd Counselor!

I just found out who the gals are I will be working with, and its such a fun group. The last time I was called to Primary I cried for days, because that's really the only callings I have had, but I'm pretty excited this time. We have a small primary and I think we can do a lot of really great stuff.

Sam's Class... Part 2

Sam's new teacher was at a conference yesterday, so his first day was pushed back today. He was really excited to get started yesterday, and was disappointed. But today he was ready to go, his two best buds are in his new class so they are excited too! Thanks for everybody's support/comments, I'll post later on how it went.

Sam's New Class...

Sam has given me permission to post an update on his "personal life." He is such a "tween."

So I feel really strongly about "going with your gut as a mom." This holds especially true with my Sam, it took months of insisting at many doctors visits to diagnose a hearing problem, learning troubles and of course his fun case of giardia. (Really gross in a potty training three year old!) Anyways, Sam is super smart, in a think out of the box/ march to your own drummer sort of way, and a sit in a desk and listen school doesn't always work with this. Especially when your ADD makes you hyper sensitive to things like buzzing lights, kids fidgeting and any other chaos. So this year we have been concerned about Sam's class, he has a super/great young enthusiastic teacher, but she runs a really casual class, with some really crazy kids. So today we (and the principal) had to make a "go with your gut" decision, it was really hard, but we decided to move his class. Well tonight he told me he was really excited about tomorrow, and hopefully that is sign of a good decision.

Moral of the story... your the mom (and the dad) you know what is best for your kids. Go for it. And never let anything get in your way!

Back up and working...

my comment section works again! Yea! Just a little hint, don't try messing with a lot of the settings!

Crazy Week, With Nothing Exciting to Report!

It's been a long time since I went a week without posting, and here I am a week later. This week was full of time spent at the school, wrapping up book fair, Community Council, PTA, field trips and Road 2 Success assembly. We are trying to get a long list of things done at home too, since we will be out of town for Thanksgiving and the next week we're off to Disneyland. So the lights are up, haircuts are scheduled, and the list goes on and on! This week it's Christmas decorating, or "the remodel" as Miah calls it and more errands, wish up luck!

BRING ON THE COUGARS!

Wow, who would have thought at the beginning of the year that a perfect season would come down to the game down south next week??? 11-0 is incredible! To my husband I ask, Ohio State who? There actually is a really weird outside chance that the Utes & the Buckeyes could meet at the Fiesta Bowl! We would have to beg, steal and borrow to make it to that game!

Gotta LoVe Those 10 & 0 UTES!

Happily I got home from book fair just in time to watch the fourth quarter of the Utah vs. TCU game. I had the radio on at book fair, but it's just not the same. Holy freaking COW what a finish! There is just a point when Johnson and Asiata turn it up a notch and GO! What an ending, what a win, what a season, bring on the boys down south!

(I know repeat pictures, but I still am excited for Sam meeting the guys!)

Book Fair Safari!

Tonight I wrapped up another hugely successful book fair! I am amazed by all the parents at our school who give and then give some more! I really thought our numbers would be down, but they went up. How do you tell a good kid they can't have a book? I'm thankful for all the moms who helped me, for all the fabulous teachers and staff at Parkside, for my parents running my kids around, for miah taking care of the kids and for all the great students at Parkside. I am truly grateful to have ended up at this school!

Here are some picks of my cute jungle theme decorations, no, I did not have a pattern, and yes, I do think they are darling! I do love PTA, yes I am a PTA mom! I love being at the school with my kids, getting to know their friends and teachers. Besides in just 3 short years the elementary days will be over! (But, I was recruited for the junior high PTA last night!)
