Schools Out For Summer!

Mrs. Anderson's 2nd Grade Class

Wow, this year has gone so fast! We had a great year at Parkside and we are so grateful that we have been here longer then we thought. The kids have had great teachers and friends, and I have meet a lot of really great people too. What are we going to this summer? Swim, golf lessons, cheerleading camp, river running in Jackson, and sleep in! What are we not going to do? Spelling everyday, fight with our sibling (yea right!) and not make lunches every morning. I hate that chore more than anything! The kids have meet a bunch of kids that live nearby so that will be fun, and there is always time with the cousins.

Lucky Lilacs...

Each May we gather with our Anderson family for a holiday called Lucky Lilacs... Never heard of it? Oh you are missing out! The tradition was started by my great grandpa, each spring when the lilac bushes bloom the family gathers. First you have to find a "lucky" lilac, that means it can't have the regular 4 petals it must have more or less, often the more the luckier. Then my aunt Becky, she holds the magic now, puts on magic glasses, looks into your lilac and repeats many very crazy magic words... she then gives you clues to where you might find a surprise hidden just for you! Laugh if you must, but it is a tradition we all look forward to! The family has really grown and I am sure my Grandma Anderson loves watching us all get together, and laughs at the water fight that happens every year! I have 11 cousins, and my own brother and sister, and they are all but one married, then they have all their kids that my kids just call cousins, so I think the count of great grandkids is 37 with one baby being born tomorrow and one in August!

Happy 10th Birthday Sam!

When your kids turns ten it really kind of hits you, man I've been doing this a while now, and I must be doing okay 'cause nobody has taken the kids away!
Sam has had a fabulous day, each year he says it is the best birthday ever. After is fun pre-birthday, today he took treats to school, got a new set of golf clubs with dad, hit a bucket of balls, got 2nd row Utah Blaze tickets for Saturday night, and finished it of with crab at Red Lobster, he is flying high! There is not much more a ten year old can ask for. He tells me I have another year until he starts to mature, but I'm afraid that preteenhood is coming fast! So for his day here are some the things to love about Sam...

S... Smiling, he is just a happy kid
A... Afraid of blood
M... Maniac
U... Unusual, in good way, Sam marches to the beat of his own drummer!
E... Exceptionally smart, someday in the real world his intelligence and creativity will blossom in a way it can't in school setting.
L... Loving, Sam wants everyone to be friends and loves the idea of PEACE!

Samuel we love you, you bring so much energy and kindness to our lives! Happy Double Digits!

Pre-Birthday

Today we had an a "pre" birthday party for Sam! He had a great time playing with his cousins, and we had tons of yummy food! Thankfully it was finally nice and we were able to be outside. Sam is so excited to turn 10, this helped ease the craziness! He got a bunch of awesome Indiana Jones Legos (the kids are really into Indiana and Star Wars), a golf ball retriever, golf shoes and glove, golf lessons and a cool electric scooter! I guess we better figure out something fun for his real birthday of Tuesday.

Road 2 Success Final Assembly!

Roads 2 Success was a huge success! Friday we had the final assembly, the kids were able to put a raffle ticket in for every 100 minutes they read all year, we raffled off all sorts of Blaze stuff and kids meals and the big prize BIKES! We also were able to give the teachers gift cards to Olive Garden and Cheesecake Factory! The tickets all go to the Garff now where 5 schools will win tickets to a Blaze game! The assembly was so much fun, I had each class make a poster and do a cheer, they did a great job! We had a special visit from the Blaze mascot Chief, the kids loved it! The kids worked so hard, our original goal was for each kid to read 20 minutes each day... that made our goal 1.67 million plus... But our great Parkside Panther read over 2 million minutes! Wow!

Crazy Hair Day!

Okay to go with the crazy hair you get crazy pictures! Does anybody know how to flip pictures in Blogger? Anyways it was crazy hair day, my final assembly and the carnival on Friday! The kids looked awesome!
